Previously self-published,
Joseph Michael Linsner's DAWN made her actual story debut in DRAMA,
the first comic book published by Sirius Entertainment in June of
1994. Having already set the stage as comicdom's most desired covergirl
years before, Dawn began starring in a series that would be known
as much for its heartfelt storytelling as for its pretty pictures.
Dawn, the primary influence of the infamous "Bad Girl" craze, became
a driving force behind the comic industry's resurgence that year.
As one of the
most anticipated events of 1995, DAWN #1 shot up to the number five
spot for the month of July. Over the next several months, the subsequent
issues of DAWN continued to rise to the top of the charts. In the
three most widely read fan-press publications in the comics industry,
DAWN regularly beat out some of the industry's favorite characters
on the "Hot Lists," based on fan popularity. In December of 1996,
Joseph Linsner, the creator of DAWN, was voted #1 on the "Most Popular
Artists" and "Most Wanted Autographs" lists, while Dawn herself
took the number six spot for "Top 10 Hot Characters," one spot ahead
of Batman, and four spots ahead of Superman.
DAWN was
created as an episodic novel, much the way Mark Twain wrote his
novels. The original 6-issue series is now available in one high-quality
package. Sirius is currently publishing CRYPT OF DAWN, a spin-off
of the original title, maintaining and developing the property's
visibility while Linsner works on THE RETURN OF THE GODDESS.
